Erling BergePhD, Professor of SociologyBerge graduated as Cand. Polit from University of Bergen in 1973 and as Ph. D. from Boston University in 1981. Berge has previously worked at the Norwegian Agricultural University and INAS (now NOWA-Norwegian Social Research). Berge has mainly been teaching research methods at master's degree, along with economic sociology and institutional theory. His research has for some year focused on property rights system of Europe and how these affect the usage of renewable resources. Berge became member of the council of the International Association for Study of Common property in 1995, where he served as president from 2002 to 2004.
